History of Virginia Icon
The Virginia Icon Story
Virginia Icon debuted in 2006 for the purpose of raising money for Virginia’s Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center (PEATC).Virginia Icon strives to increase the networks in PEATC’s communities between families and the private and public institutions and corporations that serve them. The goals of Virginia Icon are to raise awareness of and access to the PEATC resources available and to solicit financial support to help PEATC maintain and expand program offerings.
The objectives of Virginia Icon are to benefit the community:
- to help youth thrive in Virginia’s educational system
- to provide support to the parents and teachers of Virginia’s school age children
- to offer Virginia’s youth a forum for showcasing their talents
Virginia Icon wishes to promote and recognize Virginia’s homegrown musical talents.

Virginia Icon was created by and continues to be run by PEATC’s Board of Directors with the much appreciated help of additional volunteers. The main event is produced and staffed by the team. Virginia Icon has been sponsored by Board members and by generous local businesses. Donations from corporations and foundations in the form of cash, products and discounted services make Virginia Icon possible.
